Having the Best Kitchen

best kitchenWhy is the kitchen the heart of a home?  It has a lot to do with the food.  If you ever want to have some fun with your party guests, relocate the nibbles and watch the group move in response.  It’s like moving a magnet and watching nail filings follow.

Food is also a comfort in tough times, therefore many heart-to-heart conversations take place in kitchens.  And how many of us picture a dinner table when we remember growing up with our families?

Kitchens are also the workhorses of any home, where we tinker with projects or clean things.  Nobody pictures the volcano for the school science fair in the living room and a table designed for eating transitions easily into a conference table for community groups to plan events or work through problems.

Kitchens do a lot to earn their keep in the home.  They even go so far as to return on investment because they increase a home’s value.  According to Remodeling Magazine, homeowners who invest $55,000 in a kitchen remodel can recoup 69% of that cost when selling the house.  Even more impressive, a minor remodel of $18,500 can recoup 75% of the investment!

The trick to having successful kitchen that pays you back in terms of great lifestyle and financial gain is in the decisions.  You won’t recoup much from cheap fixtures and you won’t have a happy life with things that break or don’t work well for you.

A plumber as a personal shopper?  Yes, it makes a lot of sense.  You can have the best quality fixtures for a reasonable upfront cost and little maintenance.  You can enjoy a stylish home.  The advice may be free but it’s worth a heck of a lot.
